The sun, the sea, the sky and the shore
A #Poem by #Adriana

The sun an ice cream ball in warm sky, melts
The sea goes swallows sun whole turning red
The sky drips murky yellow to a black
The shore cold, laying under bare feet grows

Firstly, respect to Adriana. Her verse paints a vivid scene.

Iambic pentameter depends on rhythm. See: https://www.studiobinder.com/blog/what-is-iambic-pentameter-definition-literature/

It is possible to read this with that stress pattern. Though my initial reading did not quite give that naturally, my strong Welsh accent may produce a different pattern to Adriana's natural speech.

The issue, for me, is always whether the rhythm feels awkward when read, regardless of what it is. I usually read my own verse out loud to check.

Shakespeare Meets Hip-Hop — What is Iambic Pentameter?

Iambic pentameter is a rhythm structure, used mostly in poetry, that combines unstressed syllables and stressed syllables in groups of five.

Thank you for clarifying it. 🙂

@aliceamour

No problem – though I'm not certain I've clarified much...! 🤔
