Glad to hear he is safe and back with his family. But if they can disappear a U.S. citizen and terrorize his family this way, imagine what they are doing with immigrants in ICE facilities.
@georgetakei

ICE needs to be sue-able for this shit with minimum of $1Mn/day for wrongful detainment plus damages for any loss of employment, legal fees, etc. If that was a guaranteed baseline, they'd either burn through their budget even quicker than they already are or they'd learn to be a bit more discerning in who they disappear.
@ferricoxide @georgetakei I don’t want ICE to be “more discerning in who they disappear”. I want them to stop sorting people into categories at all.
@georgetakei
Sue the MAGA USA govt for unlawful confinement (and other crimes). Sue for a billion to try and set the bar for other victims that had their constitutional rights transgressed.

@georgetakei Imagine what happen in 1933-1945
@georgetakei Right. Whee are the consequences for the perpetrators of this injustice? They should have to pay him 50 grand outright.

@georgetakei

Following up with a slightly older but more detailed article from before Retes' release.

ICE Campaign of Violence Will Lead to More Deaths

Jaime Alanis’s death shows the horrific consequences of a secret police force behaving with utter impunity.

The Intercept

@Dusk2025 @georgetakei

Fuck The Intercept. They come up with some good stories sometimes, but they're *not* ethical. Ethical journalists don't get their sources thrown in prison by employing lazy, slovenly, irresponsible OpSec. Journalists are supposed know better. If they're not unbelievably incompetent, they're running a honey pot. Either way, I don't want my traffic linked them, or anyone like them.

If this was a shooting war they'd have gotten Reality Winner killed. As it is, they pretty much ruined her life. They're exactly the kind of people that smart folks do *not* want on their team. They're a danger to themselves and others.
