Every #Switch2 owner is teetering on the edge of a bricked, useless device thanks to #Nintendo being an anachronistic, greedy company.

What garbage policies and practices. I hope a big class action spawns from all this. https://www.tomshardware.com/video-games/handheld-gaming/nintendo-bans-switch-2-owner-after-they-played-used-switch-1-games-decision-eventually-reversed-after-proving-innocence

Nintendo bans Switch 2 owner after they played used Switch 1 games — decision eventually reversed after 'proving innocence’

Buyer beware.

@InfiniteHench How tf is any Switch owner supposed to know that their used copy of a game could've been duplicated by the original owner?! Also, since save data is unique to each console, what the hell is stopping Nintendo from putting a unique identifier for each game copy on each console?

Yeah, Nintendo has always been anti-consumer, but the success of the Wii and the Switch has made the issue so much more nakedly obvious.

@mast0d0nphan I didn't really grow up with Nintendo, a couple friends had one and we played.

I had a brief affair with the Switch 1 when it launched, was into the whole format. But the more I learned about the actual company, I've soured so hard on it.

And an important detail, to me, is that we have *zero* shortage of great games to play these days. Nintendo has long stopped being the only game in town for the types of games it makes.

Personally not bothering with a Switch 2.

@InfiniteHench Yeah, I agree, and I bought the Switch 2 Mario Kart bundle discounted (with Target gift cards). Now I wish I had been content enough with my Steam Deck and put the Switch 2 purchase off.

@mast0d0nphan Heathen! 😆

You could always sell it.
