“In the past two years, however, with surprisingly little notice, renewable energy has suddenly become the obvious, mainstream, cost-efficient choice around the world.”

“It took from the invention of the photovoltaic solar cell, in 1954, until 2022 for the world to install a terawatt of solar power; the second terawatt came just two years later, and the third will arrive either later this year or early next.”

4.6 Billion Years On, the Sun Is Having a Moment

In the past two years, without much notice, solar power has begun to truly transform the world’s energy system, Bill McKibben writes.

@gregeganSF When I got to the part where we (humans) installed a gigawatt of solar power generation every 8 hours in May I had to smile. As so many social ills are tied to fossil fuels, it’s heart warming to see market forces will help defund petrofascism.
@gregeganSF Thanks a lot for sharing this. It makes my day and gives hope. And todau was not a good day.

Here's a nice exponential curve for mankind!

I'll keep saying it...
The global rise in fascism is directly tied to the money the global oil barons are paying for it. They can't imagine giving up their .01% status and their infinite wealth. The politicians they buy not only pledge allegiance to oil but also ensure the rise of ignorance and cruelty so that most of the population is busy demonizing each other. They know that a well informed electorate would vote for human survival - given half a chance.
