Ironymeter off the scale - this was at a farm. WTAF? Can only assume this smoke is very toxic indeed

Artificial grass catches fire at Derbyshire farm in heatwave

A plume of black smoke is rising from a farm in Stanton, near Swadlincote.

@SusiArnott the question is why did they have, presumably a pile of, artificial grass on a farm?
@Beedazzled @SusiArnott
Possibly because you can’t take this stuff down your local tip. Maybe the farm was simply taking it off people’s hands instead (though no idea why they would do that except for money, obvs).
@SusiArnott I suspect their insurers will be keen to know how an uncontrollable fire started, too. And what else was in the low-temp fire (tyres? styrenes?).
That won’t be doing much for their soil or for the nearby water drainage.
@SusiArnott Looks like a tire fire. I hope it stays out. Tire fires are infamous for relighting themselves. 😬
