glad my water was made in Melbourne
And the street name is Micro Circuit, lol
@decryption Did they filter it through genuine melbournites?
@decryption
using that to clean the board first before the ipa?

@ejstacey dude that runs the ACMS told me to do this, so that’s what I’m gonna do

“Literally warm soapy water wash with a toothbrush or painters brush on top.

Then rinse with demineralised water

I normally then sit in a shoe rack in my dryer to dry them lol.

Normally you’d do this only after you’ve removed the caps however, before recapping. But in your case, if you want to wash it now, go for it.

As for the soap to use- warm water with a couple drops of regular dish soap”

@ejstacey he doesn’t even use IPA anymore - according to him “I’ve stopped using IPA. It makes the boards look like ass and dissolves any print elements”.

He’s done this dozens of times so I trust his judgement (he’s also gonna recap the board for me!)

@decryption
awesome! yeah I have heard of finishing with IPA, just to force out any extra water that may be hiding under ICs/etc, but if you give it enough time to dry sounds like you'll be fine too!
@ejstacey that’s what I was planning too - using the IPA to displace the water but yeah, if the expert says no, I won’t do it! (Also less shit to buy)
@decryption
yeah consumer amounts of IPA are weirdly expensive down here compared to the US
@decryption from exotic Dandenong South even!
@decryption I think it was actually made around the time of the Big Bang but that’s a minor quibble
