Valery Gergiev — a close friend of #Putin and long-time supporter of #Russia’s wars — is set to perform at Italy’s Un’Estate da RE Festival on July 27, organized by
#VincenzoDeLuca .

From Georgia in 2008 to Syria, Crimea, and the full-scale invasion of #Ukraine, Gergiev has consistently backed Kremlin aggression.

Sanctioned by Ukraine (2022) and Canada (2025), he remains a symbol of #Moscow’s weaponized “soft power.”

His invitation undermines international isolation of the aggressor state and signals to the Kremlin that war crimes carry no cost.

Culture should not whitewash war. Ukraine urges the festival to cancel Gergiev’s appearance — and calls on the EU to prevent its funds from aiding his
rehabilitation.
