Historic fiction where USA Reconstruction is a total success by punishing the Confederacy but the country in the year 2030 is basically the same as it is now because settler-colonialism still happened and northern racists we’re given a pass.

It’s a cautionary tale about blind spots and the foundational problems this country is unwilling and incapable of reconciling and the only silver lining is opposition to the state and hierarchy.

@Morrison_Dare The movie "Born in Flames" is based on an idea like this. The US undergoes a socialist revolution during the Cold War, but 10 years later the problems of racism, sexism, police brutality, etc. still remain. Even the economic situation has mostly changed only in name.
