I am so damn tired of being forced to subsidize these things that actively pollute our lungs, limit our mobility, undermine our economies, and threaten to kill us at any moment

I absolutely understand that some people need to drive. But every additional car on the road makes things worse for everyone else. It's like paying money to let people throw rocks at us. Why on earth do we do it?
It's just so stupid.
know what I like subsidizing, and would happily do much more of? #FreeTransit. yep. the fewer barriers we place on people who rely on transit, the better off we all are. We ALL benefit from more people riding the bus. And we *can* afford to make it free AND good.
Transit providers have long been challenged to meet two somewhat conflicting objectives: 1) reduce congestion and improve air quality by luring drivers into transit 2) improve mobility and access to opportunity for non-drivers
Many transit advocates are ardently in favor of one of those objectives vs. the other. BUT! Guess what! We can do both at the same time! We can have great, fare-free transit with this one weird trick
Stop subsidizing drivers!
Who benefits when we subsidize cars? Car companies and oil companies. Who benefits when we subsidize transit? Everybody! Even if we don't ride transit. Even if we are afraid of transit. The more people ride transit, the better off we all are. Unless you're a car company.
