I went and got my eyes tested today, and I've ordered some new glasses despite the kick in the guts to my savings account.

I'm so impressed by the amazing tech nowadays that can help me see better, but it's a sad fact that my vision now -- impaired as it might be -- is the best it's going to be.

There's a game called Deus Ex where the characters have 'augmentations' using nanotechnology (or something) and they improve/enhance human abilities and friends, if this technology were available and accessible today, you'd better believe I would get it in a heartbeat. I would so love to be able to see well without needing visual aids.

(all that said, thank goodness for visual aids, and my eyes are otherwise healthy with no sign of degeneration, so yay for that)

@teadrinker if that technology was available today, you wouldn't be able to afford it, it'd spy on you, and you'd be forced to watch ads every few minutes.

@skribe Ugh, you're probably right, plus as Adam just said if he remembers correctly, the characters in the game needed anti-rejection medication every day too, and I'm all for avoiding that.

Oh well, I guess for now I am happy to be able to access and pay for specs. I also got some new frames which are lighter and don't have the annoying little rubber stoppers on the end of the wings that pull my hair out whenever I take my glasses off, so that's a win, too
