swissletI understand people’s hatred of illegal (and legal) migration. I don’t agree, but I understand. What I cannot understand is the demonisation of the migrants themselves, of the human beings desperately clinging to those overloaded boats; the hateful rhetoric of irresponsible politicians and spiteful tabloids. Where’s your fucking empathy? Your humanity? Shame on you.

It's most often not hatred towards migration in general, but towards a migration that they define other to them.
Nearly all of us are either immigrants or offsprings of immigrants. They don't hate that. They make this part of their own history.
But they hate the other.
