Tony, Pretty Much

Trump got 80% of the vote in areas of Kansas that are now being completely fucked over because Trump ended a program that allowed those voters to send surplus grains around the world. He ended it even against the wishes of some elected KS Republicans.

Remarkable that he can do this to his most loyal voters and not pay a political price for it. There’s no “Democratic messaging fix” that gets around this.

I live in KS and have for most of my life (sadly).

They're not going to learn anything.

It's the herd mentality plus the "we've always been Republicans and we will always be Republicans no matter what" mentality.

During his first term, there were rumors of farmers grumbling amongst each other about things that hurt their farms and families, but they still all voted him in the second time.

I don't know how much hurt it would take them to change their minds. They're still going to do all the blame shifting shenanigans that Republicans do and somehow make it all a previous president's fault.

Meanwhile, grain will rot in silos.

There’s no “one neat trick” Dems can pull to get these people to figure it out. At this point, they need to do it for themselves, assuming they will ever want to.

What we have here is a simple failure to adapt. Change the color of the bag to gold, change the message to say from Donald J Trump, and include a free maga hat in each bag. Farmers will get more orders than they can fill.

@TonyStark SNAP (foodstamps) are a farm subsidy, too. And immigrants are needed to pick produce. All of which GOP voters voted against. As farmers lose their farms due to *gestures broadly* the super rich stand ready to buy them up at bargin basement prices.
It would be laughable, if there wasn't so much collateral damage.
