As someone who needs dictation for accessibility reasons, I think the developers of every single existing dictation option should have their hands cuffed behind their back and forced to dictate an entire book.

Every single time their fucking software sensors a swear or capitalizes a word in the middle of the goddamn sentence an automatic machine hits them in the hands with a hammer.

Seriously there are searches about this being an ongoing issue for most programs because for some reason some fuckhead decided that a pause means the next word should be capitalized, which means every time I pause to think I am going to need to use my hands - which are in pain - to fix the issue.

And because I’m in pain by the time I’m done fixing it I have lost my train of thought.

You can find people asking for help with this going back years.

Fuck whoever made this choice, fuck whoever refuses to fix it, and fucking hell accessibility needs to be a higher priority.

Like it is bad enough because I have a speech impediment so most speech to text software struggles with me to begin with. But then you add this shit and I honestly start to wonder if I should just hand type so I can deal with the pain of that as opposed to the frustration of having to fix all of this bullshit.

The problem is I am dictating specifically so I can wear my braces to help with healing, and because of that I have to move my arms in an odd way every time I touch the keyboard which is starting to put strain on my elbows now so it’s cleaning a cascade effect of making new problems while barely helping with the old.

And there’s no need for this.

I finally tweak things in Microsoft office enough that it seems to be working within acceptable parameters, but I shouldn’t have had to spend an hour troubleshooting when this is clearly inferior to having the default be allowing us to swear like adults and not capitalizing every time someone pauses to breathe in the middle of a sentence and then giving them the little blue squiggly line to let them know it needs to be fixed.

Oh and don’t think you have the hook for this either, Apple. The word apple should not be auto capitalized, and the word commander should not be randomly made all caps. Seriously why does it do it every time I say that word -which comes up a lot when you’re talking about magic gathering -it is auto capitalize and I have to go back and retype it or just randomly have a word be shouted and I hate it
