Wish list: https://www.revk.uk/2025/07/wish-list-powerbattery-management-ic.html

- A small IC - does not need many pins
- 3.7V LiPo connection, one cell.
- 5V power (i.e. from USB)
- 3.3V regulated output, ideally 1A, integral FET or LDO
- 5V charges LiPo, but can run with just 5V or 3.7V LiPo.
- Integral battery level ADC, I2C
- A button input to power on, maybe even long hold to power off, and allow processor to access button as well (as a pin or I2C)
- Stupidly low "off" current
- Minimal external passives

Ideas?

Wish list: Power/battery management IC

I mentioned I am playing with battery management. It is clear some interesting ICs out there. One of the problems is that there are so many ...

@grischard Ooh that is close.

I may have to add a list of possible parts to my blog post.

@revk I’m also trying to esp32-ise an existing device, and the world is full of “ooh that is close” ICs like this that have just one unexpected but fatal flaw.
@revk yes having just designed some small LiPo powered things with similar needs my thought was "am I really going to have to do this bit myself again?". I'm not happy with what I ended up with so I'm going to have to go back to it.
@ncmreynolds Glad it is not just me 🙂
