Hello Friends, every year I give away a key for Stardew Valley. This is the 6th time I’m doing this. Why? Because it’s an awesome game! Two years ago i did the giveaway on the Stardew Valley community here on lemmy. To enter, just drop a top-level comment under this post with a reason why you didn’t play Stardew Valley yet. It can be a made up reason. From all comments that qualify, one will be chosen randomly on Tuesday the 8th of July at 20:00 (8pm) CET. Good luck 👍

In that case, don’t look up Dwarf Fortress. I’ve also heard good things about Factorio, but I haven’t tried it yet.

Not sure why I haven’t played it, does anyone know if it has co-op across platforms? Like if I install it on Linux distros will I be able to join a spouse who is playing on her Xbox or Windows?

There is cross-platform play between PC (including Linux and Mac) and mobile devices (iOS and Android). For other platforms like Nintendo Switch and Xbox, crossplay is not available, meaning you can only play with others on the same console

You should be able to play co-op across PCs regardless of OS but console versions are not cross compatible.

Thanks for this info, I installed Medieval Dynasty the other day trying to play co-op with her. Unfortunately couldn’t join, I assume because I didn’t have a legitimate version. Hers was paid for but I had just torrented mine in attempt to play locally. Was hoping I didn’t have to pay for a game twice to play together .

Last game I bought was 5 bucks, and I’m still skeptical whenever it was a good investment cuz money is hard It was Oneshot, and I loved it

There are mods that can make the experience way better. For me the “save anytime” is one of the most important game play improvement.

I really want to play it but steam sells the games in my country in USD, not my countrys currency and this makes it expensive and painful to buy. Not only stardew valley, almost any games

I have played Stardew Valley before but it was a pirated copy. I have it wish listed on steam but I only purchased two games on steam and I find the payment process to be a bit tedious. I may look into buying it someday but if I win this giveaway, then I don’t have to buy it. 🙂

I am currently addicted to stardew, I am playing with my friend. She doesn’t own the game but thanks to steam family share, she can play with me through someone elses copy.

She does want her own copy and I am commenting for her because she doesn’t use Lemmy.
