IT FUCKEN WIMDY
@volpeon omg all the fluff ..

@volpeon

Bird: *breeding*

Wind: *flips the bird*

@volpeon ๐Ÿ˜‚ Yes, thatโ€™s pretty windy!
@volpeon I was just thinking about that today. When the weather is stormy, wet and freezing cold and we worry our homes might be washed or blown away, there are birds trying to keep their eggs or young warm and safe in those same conditions, but considerably more difficult.
@volpeon Oh my gosh, I love this! ๐Ÿ˜‚

@volpeon

Oh, that poor bugger! On video for all the relatives to see, too ๐Ÿคฃ How undignified.

@volpeon this is phenomenal, do you know where is from?
@sarahdalgulls There wasn't a source mentioned, but I'm pretty sure it's from here: peregrinus.pl/en/lodz
@volpeon thank you! and thank you for sharing it, I can't stop laughing at the poor thing

@volpeon

omg this is aawesome! Poor gal! ๐Ÿคฃ

@volpeon Oh no the poor bird

@volpeon oh my god ๐Ÿ˜‚ this is too precious not to alt.

if you want to copy paste :
short video of a small bird of prey (peregrine falcon ?) laying on her nest. First the wind ruffles her feathers, then ruffles some more, and as she tries to settle herself she exposes her backside to the wind, and is completely flipped over, exposing her three eggs. For a brief moment, she lays on her back, feet in the air, head on the ground, looking bummed, then settles back and carefully tucks the eggs under her.

@leroimiracle @volpeon

Yes, pretty sure that's a peregrin.

@cavyherd i'm a newbie in the bird identifying world, so yay ๐ŸŒธ

@leroimiracle

Which makes the bird's struggles all the funnier/more ironic. I mean, peregrins are โ€ขbuiltโ€ข to slice through 200mph winds (that's the speeds they can reach in a power dive), so it seems odd that figuring this out while stationary wouldn't be, like, automatic.

Get rotated idiot

@volpeon

For someone whose whole JOB is aerodynamics, it seems to take her a bit to figure out to face into the wind. Poor baby!

@cavyherd @volpeon I mean, during dives the wind always comes from in front of the bird, no figuring out necessary

@wittiko @volpeon

Well, true. Wind direction is "built in," like. Fair point!

@volpeon, ... she got the action, she got the motion.
Yeah, the girl can play,
dedication, devotion...
@volpeon I laughed more than I probably should...

@volpeon *Attenborough voice*

โ€žthis skillful and merciless predatorโ€ฆ oopsโ€œ

@volpeon really ruffles my feathers when that happens
@volpeon @hexaitos being blown ass-over-teakettle is so funny xD.

@volpeon

Portsmouth Accent: "Steer her bow into the wake Mr Easy!"

@volpeon

poor boo!!! was it wrong to laugh????

@volpeon It would be so embarrassed if it knew this was filmed and shared on the Internet.
@volpeon poor nest needs a windbreaker of a few branches
@volpeon , yes they are stupid like sh*t dumbasses but this is why also I like them! ๐Ÿ˜†
@volpeon Got blown off me eggz.
@volpeon I AM THE STORM THAT IS APPROACHING ๐ŸŽถ PROVOKING ๐ŸŽถ

@volpeon Noooooo the floof-mom got flippeded!!๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ’”

(oh thank God she's okay! ๐Ÿฅน๐Ÿ’•)

@volpeon Good on her for hanging on; I've never seen that happen before, lol.
@Timberfang @volpeon I have this saved from somewhere lol
@volpeon Thank you for that, made my day! ๐Ÿ˜€
@volpeon
Is this a metaphor for democracy in the US?
@volpeon It must be annoying during the wind when your entire body is made of aerodynamic lift/control surfaces
