#Gaza We watched this last night. It was the most traumatic thing I hsve ever seen. It shows how systematically Israel has destroyed Gaza’s healthcare system and killed doctors. This is ongoing - just yesterday many killed at Indonesian hospital.

I feel irrevocably alienated from all the lovely people around me who choose to just ignore all this. Not watch, not see. For almost two years the most barbaric slaughter, aided by our governments here.

#Gaza i mean, was it like this when the images of the horrors of the concentration camps came out in 1945? Lovely middle class liberals going: “too much for me to bear, I am a sensitive person, my children will never be allowed to see this” and this being an entirely accepted, applauded, rational, majority position?
@pvonhellermannn I think the situation is more comparable to Poland 1939 to 1941 when it comes to public awareness and opinion. Then Jews could still be described as terrorists and murder was downplayed. At least in Sweden.
@pvonhellermannn FWIW there was a front page story about Sudan, and how the loss of US aid is directly starving children to death, on the front page of the Wash Post on Sunday. It’s right in front of the nose of the lovely middle class liberals, if they choose to look.
@pvonhellermannn I mean, they are using starving people in Gaza for target practice now. And yet the winner of the Democratic mayoral primary in NYC is being labeled and derided for talking about Gaza at all. The mainstream liberals look at people living in the Fox bubble with pity, but they are in their own bubble on this. I think they know. They just don’t want to be the one to raise the subject and get shot down for it.
@pvonhellermannn there wouldn't have been any Nuremberg trials at all if the French hasn't insisted upon it. British and US leadership wanted to just brush it all under the rug. So, yeah

@pvonhellermannn

Part of the issue is that there is a threshold of atrocity where it reabstracts itself into something you cant do anything about. I was just griping about how bearing witness doesnt do enough after a certain point but alienate - my angle is more on the 'what do we do about it' and the answer being 'bear more witness and drag others into it' and that being demotivational if you already have been shaken by it - no, you want an outlet to fight back, not pass along the worst things youve ever seen.

@ciggysmokebringer Yes. I do what i can. I protest every Saturday, write to my MP, speak up at conferences and public events, donate money. Etc etc. Of course you need an outlet, but you also need to know. It’s not as if those lovely people ignoring it all are doing more about Gaza than those who don’t ignore.
But yes, agree, overall it feels like bearing witness in itself is not enough.

@pvonhellermannn

Its a starting point to get folks asking what they can do, and Id be fibbing if I said atrocity hadnt motivated me, but its more complicated once you get it. Theres a group of women in my neighborhood that hold a vigil for the children of gaza and its like, i love them and theyre doing the thing they think will help but its like, im already affected, I need the 200 level courses on how we sabotage boeing and maersk so Israel doesnt get weapons, ya know?

@pvonhellermannn
What has been done and is being done to the Palestinian people in Gaza in the full view of the world is almost certainly the most inhumane murderous thing that has been done by a nation in my lifetime. To call it warfare is obscene. It is the greatest of ironies that there has been nothing like this since the Holocaust. And we (the government and much of the media) in the UK are complicit, connive, assist, and provide cover for the people who do this. We all should be PA.
@tompearce49 @pvonhellermannn those words are moving. thanks for posting.
@pvonhellermannn It would seem not being in the UK, I can not access the film on Channel 4. Hopefully that finds its way into you tube at some stage.

@Unknowable @pvonhellermannn you might be able to use a VPN (Virtual Private Network) to access the Channel 4 website via UK location.

I can recommend Windscribe, who have a fairly generous data allowance on the free plan https://windscribe.com/

@natureworks @pvonhellermannn Thanks, I know, but no can do on this Computer here. Doesn't matter, likely spared me some nightmares. If it is what it says on the tin, forensic and all, it will make its way into the greater public.
@Unknowable @natureworks to be honest it is so harrowing that i feel reluctant to give advice on how to watch it. It is just awful. Almost 24h on and i am still completely shaken.
@pvonhellermannn @natureworks 1/2 You know Pauline, we all knew this, we observed it for many months now, every single day. Refugees being herded from one camp into the other across Gaza, food and medical supplies denied, war crime after war crime committed, German government suppressing pro-Palestine views, refusing Albanese to speak in Berlin, the list goes on an on. My point is we knew all that, the torturing, the attacks on civilian infrastructures, let alone the Westbank.
@pvonhellermannn @natureworks Attacks on Beirut, Saana, Damascus, Netanyahu has the carte blanche in his hands, he can do whatever he wants. When refugees were shot when they lined up for food, politicians in my country tell us that they expect the IDF to clarify the incident. When they attack Hospitals, we are told Israel has the right to defend itself. Again, we knew all this. This film won't change a fucking thing.

@pvonhellermannn @natureworks P.S. I was not even born, for that long we all know about it!

@pvonhellermannn It's heartbreaking to see Gaza's healthcare system systematically destroyed, with countless innocent lives lost, including doctors. The silence around this ongoing crisis is deeply troubling. We cannot ignore such human suffering. Every life matters. 💔
@pvonhellermannn Anyone know if there is a source we can watch abroad?

TV review

Gaza: Doctors Under Attack review - this crucial film is the stuff of nightmares. But
the world needs to see it

The film the BBC refused to air shows the
targeting, detainment and torture of medics in Gaza. Its relentless timeline of horrors will never leave you

@pvonhellermannn

The look of that mother looking at the photo of her son, her trembling lips and the inability to express how much she felt because she was overcome by sadness. This haunts me. I cried.
Those bastards killing innocent people, the good ones who want to help, the kind & clever ones who got educated to do good work.
Israel & the USA; evil. And fuck the BBC for being Israel's lapdog. There is no excuse, no forgiveness, only their victims can forgive and they are decimating them.

@pvonhellermannn "The film the BBC refused to air"

It's clear the BBC are nothing more than a Colonial artefact, supporting Western colonialism around the world. So glad I don't pay the Licence fee, there is nothing live that is worth being complicit in that factory of lies.

#BBC #Censorship #Fascism #Genocide #FreePalestine #UKPOL #UKPolitics #Colonialism

@pvonhellermannn We have recorded it, but didn't get an opportunity to watch.
I guess I'll copy the recording to the netbook so we can watch this evening.
@AngelaScholder it’s extremely harrowing, please be warned
@pvonhellermannn Yes, I have sort of an idea of what images to expect.

@pvonhellermannn We just watched.
Yes, there was new material, but mainly things I had already seen.
I guess the worst thing is that the atrocities already have been so gruesome that it just wasn't shocking any more.

The silence of the World and even the wilful complicity of governments is just astonishing.
The genocide and war crimes that are just ignored by so many, or are being classified as "self defence"...!
Basically I'm just speechless, numb.

@ErikvanStraten Heb je de documentaire gezien?
Ik kan de recording delen.
@pvonhellermannn I too have seen it. It must be watched, even though it's harrowing viewing. A #ceasefire in #Gaza is long overdue! The #genocide MUST end!
