Internet slows down to a crawl as I transfer >3TB of drive backups over the home network to the NAS. I know the transfer is local, but internet data has to go through this congested home network to access the outside.

I know I should transfer directly with USB, but I made the mistake of using the unsurported exFAT format, and no way am I starting over, or have space to move it elsewere.

Okay. This is unbearably slow while also affecting normal internet speeds. It looks like it may take 4 days non-stop if I do nothing.

It’s a lot quicker to just cancel it, transfer to a NTFS formatted drive, and connect it to USB of the NAS.
