I have so many questions I want answered:
just who the hell is Hiruko? she's really powerful and originally said she had been fighting the invaders for some time before you meet her, but then she got murdered before you could learn more. is she another time traveler? 🤔
just who or what are the invaders? what's their motivation? I don't buy the World Death explanation
what is on the artificial satellite? the first ending you get with the garbled message made it sound far from the idyllic escape we were promised
what's the actual plan for day 100 if we successfully complete the mission? it all went terribly wrong the first time
just how many times am I going to play through this game? 😅 I can see the timeline getting crazy complicated
the chapter select in NG+ has codes for where you are in the timeline, so I'll tag my posts with these in case you are playing yourself
the last 3 digits are the day number
I can't remember getting this obsessed with a game for quite a while, all day at work I've been thinking about what's happening in my current playthrough, and can't wait to get home to fire the game up
this game has burrowed into my brain, it's a beautiful, insane thing
man, this route is grim af, half the characters are dead and everyone else is trapped in a Danganronpa style killing game. Darumi is the only person having a good time!
have had two premature endings, one where invaders destroyed the school while everyone was out in the wasteland trying to get points for the game, and the second one where everyone killed each other fighting over who gets to kill an enemy commander for big points
this game loves to give you impossible choices
some screenshots from tonight, some more banger lines from Kyoshika who is definitely one of my favorite characters, and new character Kamyuhn
the mysteries keep piling up. I love how this game very slowly reveals it's story, and each revelation just leads to more questions. I wonder how many playthroughs it'll take to get the full picture
I felt really sorry for Kamyuhn when she found out her mother had been killed (by us)
some things I am starting to suspect: we may not be on Earth and may in fact be the invaders on an alien world, possibly way in the future
the "invaders" we are fighting are definitely not the evil monsters we were told they were. they have their own society, religion, and morals. they refer to us as "invaders"
there's definitely someything up with Hiruko. although she is dead (again) in my current playthrough I did find out a bit more about her this time. I like her a lot
it all got a bit saucy tonight, lol
XSEED did such a good job with the localisation in this game
what the fuuu-, it was EITO?
well the Killing Game is finally over and the sponsor is dead, now to escape. shame Tsubasa killed Eito before we learnt what was going on, but I'm grateful she did!
"Everyone dies. The end. Now go back and make the right decision, you baby-killing monster."
tbf the baby in question is basically a sentient armageddon weapon capable of destroying all life on the planet, so I didn't feel too bad about killing them
A HAPPY ENDING! omg
the final battle was the toughest one of the game so far, but I managed an S rank (although I needed the restart bonus to heal the defense barrier before the final wave as it only had like 4 hp left after wave 2)
everyone made it to the artificial satellite to start their new lives, I'm honestly shocked this game even has happy endings, I kept expecting the escape pod to explode or something
I'll start a new route tomorrow, I'm not stopping yet. I love this game so much and I still have so many unanswered questions
started another NG+ route, decided to let Eito live this time, I'm sure he'll get up to mischief even though he's locked up and can't use his hemoanima
finishing the "Killing Game" route did give me lots of new info, but added a whole load more questions... I still don't know who the original "sponsor" of the killing game even was, were they really a remotely controlled corpse inside that suit? if so, who was controlling it? where did the Eito who became the second sponsor even come from? I killed him on day 2!
how did Hiruko know where to get the spare suit from? I still think she's another time traveler
and now I let Eito live, I've seen Sirei use some drones for the first time, and they sound exactly like the bees the sponsor used 🤔
aah, just wtf is going on? I neeeeed to know
I'm pretty sure I'll learn the answer to some of these questions by playing through other routes, which is just so fucking cool. depending on the order you do things, some events and characters will make no sense at all the first time you see them, but then later on in another timeline you'll have an AHA! moment
I'm gonna end up like this guy I'm sure
no fuckin' WAY, so the suit the Sponsor was wearing in the Killing Game route is some sort of protective gear called a "Leap Suit"
and Hiruko is travelling between parallel realities? that explains why she was so quick to work out Takumi has come from the future after he lied to everyone else about it. was she the Sponsor?
my only issue with this is Takumi didn't freak the fuck out about this when he saw the suits in the lab, so he only appears to have memories of the initial timeline. I suppose it would've been exponentially more work to change the dialog depending on which routes you had already finished at any given point, so I'll forgive TooKyo this one
each revelation just leads to more questions, this game blows my mind
so one day after "Kill the Baby? Y/N" I have this choice to make 😅
(I chose Yes, she pushed me, we both fell off the school roof and died, and I woke up 2 weeks later, neither of us can remember what happened due to a fault with the revive-o-matic)
this game just blew my mind AGAIN. must be the fourth time now. utter genius
I just... wow
earlier I said that I was disappointed that Takumi doesn't appear to remember anything other than the initial timeline when playing different routes. I can see why they did this as it would increase the amount of dialog exponentially if they had to take into account what other routes you had already completed
buut, they were obviously aware of this, (kinda) explained it in-game, and then with the story locks they can guarantee that you know certain events from other timelines before progressing
this game is crazy. I've seen 10/100 endings so far and I just have more questions each time
finished chapter 13 the "Romance Route" which was very silly, you get to spend 25 days each with Kurara, Kyoshika, and Tsubasa while Moko officiates on the "game"
there were some really sweet, funny moments in this one, I don't think there are any bad characters in this game and the writing is excellent
so that's two complete routes finished to day 100 now, and one stuck at a story lock 🤔
ominous music plays
yes Kurara, good point
this route is grim af, everyone slowly being picked off by an unknown murderer with a power saw one by one
and Takumi is having periods of memory loss... it can't be, can it?
Hiruko knows something, I'm sure
HOLY FUCK this game continues to amaze with its storytelling. my brain is twisted in knots and broken, just like poor Takumi here
just finished the "Slasher Route" with ending 72 and I'm still trying to process what I just learnt and how it fits in with the rest of the game. so does this mean in literally every other timeline that Takumi is infected with an alien brain parasite that could take over his body at any moment? I'm pretty sure I remember him having blackouts in other routes I've seen
this changes everything I thought I knew about what is going on, and probably explains why Hiruko can remember events from other timelines, but not Takumi
I'm starting to suspect that by the time I've seen every ending and finally understand wtf is going on in the story, that this might just be my favorite game of all time. I definitely can't remember another game twisting my brain in knots as regularly as this one has. and I'm still only at 18/100 endings, too
heh, reading this toot back this morning, I realise that I do tend to get caught up in the moment and declare that my new favourite thing to be the best thing ever, but in this case I'm not exaggerating. we'll see how I feel when I finish the whole game, but atm it's up there with Persona 3 Reload for me
I can't stop thinking about it
omg zombies!
Takemaru is very observant 😅
well, at least I know now how Takumi became infected by the G'ie parasite 🤢😨 (it crawls into his mouth, urk)
have seen 22/100 endings now!
this was one of the endings from what I'm calling the "Zombie Route" for obvious reasons. it's actually part of the Slasher Route but diverges when you manage to kill Yugamu as he's pretending to be the killer for kicks
Kyoshika is the only survivor on the escape pod. Takumi stays behind fighting zombies to give her time to escape, and then he's captured by the zombies and taken to be infected by the parasite queen
this game can be grim af
my favorite ending of the game so far, unable to bring himself to kill Zombie Nozomi, Takumi is killed by her. he wakes up on day 99 and at first doesn't realise he's a zombie
he finds Kurara but something stops him from biting her neck, she flees to the gym where she is surrounded by the other zombies. she flips out and kills all the zombies with a power saw until only Takumi is left
she tells him to go back in time and save everyone from this bad ending, before killing him with the power saw
Kurara is such a good character. two wildly different personalities but both awesome. I love tomato girl so much
things have got very weird. Yugamu made some pheromone drugs for Takumi and now everyone is in love with him and getting jealous if Takumi shows favor to anyone
the last route I played everyone turned into zombies, and now this 🙃
also, I KNEW IT part 3
I still don't trust Eito one bit though, I suspect he's just pretending to be affected by Takumi's pheromone powers
am at around 90 hours into this game now, and the story and writing is easily amongst the best of any game I've ever played. the way it hides its mysteries, and drip feeds you just enough information as you're going along, but in a totally non-linear way. I said it before but #TheHundredLine is a masterpiece
it throws its characters into hundreds of insane situations and what emerges is beautifully twisted every time. I love this game
got my first ending in the "Cult of Takumi" route on day 51 and it was GRIM AF, like fucking hell that went south quickly
Nozomi convinces Takumi that he has to reverse the effects of the pheromone drug and return everyone else to normal, but Eito overhears the conversation, and it ends with Takumi being drugged so he can't move and has to watch as everyone else beats Nozomi to death in front of him
then he is trapped in his own body forever, unable to move, and his cult members continue to worship him as some sort of living deity
what the fuck, game. it's a nice sunny Saturday afternoon and you drop that on me 😨
@COMPU73E
I’ve been able to not click on any spoilers up until now, but this is one that I did not regret clicking. 😅
My playthrough had been very normal so far. Well besides Hulk Shouma. 👀
@irgndsondepp thank you! I do hope I'm not boring anyone, lol
I love theorycrafting and speculating as I'm going along, and the game is designed so you do exactly that, and I have got some guesses absolutely spot on, but then something else will come out of nowhere and change everything (like last night)
this is the kind of story you could only tell in a videogame, it really is something special
@BigShellEvent yeah this is definitely a game where the more time you spend with it the better it gets
the entire first playthrough is literally just the setup, and if you stop there you'll probably rate it as kinda average
@COMPU73E that's what raging loop did. I didn't have strong feelings about first play but figured it will get real soon.
Btw, my latest theory is all the important side plots would get their own entry in Archive tab. Which has whole heaps of implications for another massive side plot that was entirely left unmentioned
