On systems medicine, planetary #health and #biopolitics

1/2

Health is inherently political and #queer which calls for systems thinking, and thinking at the interstices.

To achieve healthcare based on systems medicine, and to recognize the complexity, liminality, biopolitics and queerness of health and illness, engineering and biotechnology are useful but largely insufficient.

For systems medicine, we also need social theory, queer theory, historiography, and political determinants - the causes of causes - for disease, health and well-being.

📍 Think of who is making the decisions on healthcare and what is 'normal' and 'standard'; why, when, how, where, and to what ends? Who is excluded? Who is glorified, and why?
