Meet Tia Anderson, one of our #RailsConf Scholars this year! ✨

Tia’s journey into Ruby on Rails began after years of working on the front end of a large Rails app, without fully realizing the power of the framework.

When she was laid off, she decided to take the leap to finally learn how to build with Rails. In the six months since, she’s been building full-stack applications that feel functional and truly usable. As she says, she's "hooked!"

Tia currently runs a small consultancy, helping clients with onboarding, CRM cleanup, and theming, especially on platforms like NationBuilder. She’s also on the lookout for her next opportunity as a software engineer, ideally somewhere she can continue growing as a back-end or full-stack developer.

Outside of tech, she is a mom, a grandma, and a gardener who loves tending to her backyard food forest and cooking for her loved ones. 💛

Be sure to say hi if you see Tia around the conference! 🤩

The Ruby Central Scholars & Guides program pairs first-time or early-career conference attendees (Scholars) with experienced community members (Guides) to help them navigate the event, make meaningful connections, and get the most out of their experience.

Scholars receive a free ticket and support before and during the conference, with a focus on mentorship and making RailsConf more welcoming and accessible. ❤️
