A major network news program has just contacted me for permission to use footage from one of my YouTube videos of cherry drying. I said I have plenty of footage to share but require compensation. I asked what their budget was.

I'm thinking that I will either never hear from them again or be told that they have no budget for footage, which is bullshit considering that this show is known worldwide. I suspect that they will offer me credit or exposure, neither of which pays bills. (1/2)

Why do major news organizations, all of which operate for profit, think they can get free video footage for their programs? Because so many fucking morons give them free video footage for their programs.

Stop giving away your creative work for free. If a for-profit organization wants to use your work, make them pay for it.

@michaelrowe01 $100 would make me happy. I'm just not interested in giving my work away for free to for-profit organizations.
@mlanger absolutely agree…
