thinking about winding down my shared blocklists tbh. it’s draining and tons of almost entirely unpaid labor to find, archive, and catalog receipts. one awesome person pays a dollar a week but it’s really not enough to justify this effort.
i might write a retrospective and advice for anyone else who wants to try.
https://seirdy.one/support/ if you want to convince me to keep going.
edit: keep your money if you’re broke. please.
if more people donate I think I’ll keep going but right now I’m running on a depleting reservoir of goodwill and concern that alternatives will do worse.
Fedi runs on burnout.
@Seirdy >>"Fedi runs on burnout."
I really wish that wasn't true, but it's impossible to deny.😮💨
Regardless how it pans out, thank you so, so much for the time, thought, & energy you've already spent making this a better place to be.🙏
Well, I can't say I wouldn't understand if you did that. Sounds like a lot of work.
Whichever route you take, I do want to say that I've personally gotten a ton out of your blocklists, particularly FediNuke, it was a very valuable resource for me in running my instance. Thank you for it!
Is there any way I can help out and/or repay you for your work on this? (no promises since I'm a broke college student but I can see what I can do)
@Seirdy Is there anything else that would help with continuing FediNuke, or is it really just money you need?
Your use of receipts is really important and gives me confidence in FediNuke. I don't know of any other blocklists that I trust.
For my friends+family server I went with an allowlist GoToSocial instance instead, b/c of the dearth of blocklists I like. It's much more pleasant looking for the best servers on fedi to federate, instead of the worst servers to block.
