Thank you for writing this. I don’t know how much of the story happened and how much is fictional, but it certainly made me feel something. I had a pit bull when I was a kid who was the most beautiful and majestic and protective dog I’ve ever known. I still dream of her sometimes. This story reminded me a bit of her.

That’s the whole point of writing, I think, to somehow transcend the page and communicate something, like a special feeling, that is normally hard to convey. Regarding the fictionality of the story, since this happened more than 20 years ago, some liberties were taken with the details, of course, but the key events explicitly happened.
