When AI topic is exhausted and customers will be enlightened AI's return of investment is tremendously low, next topic will be quantum computing.

There will be huge fuss around quantum-resistant encryption and mumbo-jumbo like that. It will be even more funny than AI hype, because for quantum computing there won't be any consumer devices to run that fancy stuff on

@gytisrepecka totally, and I've seen a lot on this already. And you're right. No consumer devices 😂
@jake4480 Even more opportunities for big techs and cloud vendors to push subscription services
@gytisrepecka Sounds like a plausible scenario.
Re consumer devices, I foresee them to slowly becoming “thin clients” for centralised service consumption with bare minimum hardware to power OS and onboard assistant. Regardless if it’s a workplace, media, news, social or quantum.
@jake4480

@mariusg Idea of thin clients were areound for almost couple decades, but never materialized into something workable, really

From full-blown computer terminals to Chromebooks and clients on phones - that was never destined to become mainstream due to connection, data center and other issues

@jake4480

@gytisrepecka I see “boiling the frog” pattern, e.g. “cloud solutions” slowly becoming default with offline options fading away, e.g. office, media. It will take time, but eventually the most if not all consumer devices will be forcefully connected into some sort of “cloud” or “mesh network” powered by big tech. Without it they simply won’t work.
