To #Blind and #LowVision Linux users:

Which #Linux or #BSD distributions are you able to install without assistance? Are there any that work better with screenreaders and other assistive technologies out of the box?

I'm trying to understand how much of the problem is specific to distributions, their installers or differences in windowing system such as Wayland breaking screenreaders vs X11.

#accessibility

@FreakyFwoof @dentangle Linux Mint is the only distro I've been able to install without any difficulties, though Debian works from time to time (assuming the installer screws up when trying to setup Orca Etc.). Ubuntu and its derivatives (aside from Mint and accessibility-focused distro Accessible Coconut) no longer have an accessible installer, after they switched from the gold standard of accessibility--Ubiquity--to whatever the hell they're calling their flutter-based monstrosity.
@FreakyFwoof @dentangle Correction: Assuming Debian's installer doesn't screw up, which it usually does.
