oo the way the xv-2020 does bank selection seems compatible (from reading the manuals) with the digitakt's midi channels (despite roland ROMplers apparently being known for being odd in that regard)

this means it could theoretically plock the midi program on the thing and switch between different instruments on the same channel with an LFO or something and that sounds so cursed and so amazing
aww it can't route an LFO there

but it could probably p-lock it. Everything can be p-locked on that sequencer
the digitakt sequencer is literally like a tracker but with the hands-on immediacy of a TR-style drum sequencer and the ability to control literally any parameter like an effect command with unlimited commands per step and this one is in love
this one understands why folks online call elektron users a cult bc this one is very much in the cult now
@soweliniko Thsy also made some bangin’ ads back in the day https://youtu.be/k8qqPjpOlZI
Octatrack - A Machine That Makes Music?

YouTube
@TinaStormcaller this has equal "what the fuck did it just watch" and also "yeah, a mysterious music machine so powerful and unusual that it takes a team of special agents to try and understand it is a pretty decent summary of the octatrack"

@soweliniko cool, have another :) https://youtu.be/4X7MlbfQJK8 I’m not sure if they did more of these

Critter and Guitari also did some nuts cartoons around the same time to sell their wares

Analog Four — The Demon Who Wears Me

YouTube
@TinaStormcaller oh yeah it saw the critter and guitari ones! It still has part of it that wants an organelle because of just how damn cute that little thing is, even though it doesn't really have a home for it in what is increasingly becoming a modern-retro-cheese-hybrid dance music setup.
@soweliniko The couple of things I have from them are built like tanks, hopefully the organelle is as solid. It has tempted me too but i think I can only justify getting one by selling my septavox which isn’t happening
@TinaStormcaller yeah, this one has also been burned in the past repeatedly when it has bought a machine that has meant to be able to be programmable and patchable and do all kinds of many things! And then patches to do what it wants don't exist and it doesn't have the energy to make them. This happened with the monome norns and happened with the ksoloti gills and it feels like it would happen with an organelle

it's literally the kind of creature that just bought an early 2000s roland ROMpler, because it just wanted easy presets for the slightly cheesy bread and butter acoustic and synth sounds you hear so often in dance tracks from the 90s and the turn of the 2000s, so it didn't have to think about even finding samples
@soweliniko Likewise, have an MC-505 I really need to one day spend some quality time with
@TinaStormcaller this one would love to play with one of those! What it just bought was an XV-2020, which it plans to sequence with the digitakt to replicate some of that oldschool groovebox goodness (but with the elektron sequencer superpowers)
