I don’t even understand why the boomers want this shit gone — so many of them rely on Medicare and SSI entirely. They all claim that because they ‘paid into it their whole lives’ that they are due a disbursement. But like usual, boomers are concerned about theirs; none of us who have been working for almost 20 years at this point will receive the same benefit.

I used to believe the 2 party system made it into teams like sports, but I am thinking it is actually far worse these days. The vast majority of NFL fans for example will shit on their team players who make mistakes or make poor decisions. Drop a pass, keep missing tackles, get a drug charge… fuck that guy, cut him. When people do fantasy football, or pick football pools of which teams will win or gamble online on games, they won’t just pick their players or their team to win if they think they will perform bad and hurt their winnings. People will have bias, but if the Chiefs are playing the Raiders and your a Raiders fan, your still picking the Chiefs to win that game because it will benefit you more at the end of the day.

I’m holding hope that the MAGA destruction hits so hard that the pendulum is forced to aggressively swing back in the other direction.
That was my hope after Bush, then again after first trump term. Then the country provided republicons every lever of power as a reward. I’m not holding my breath of anything swinging anywhere.
Problem is the pendulum did swing back but it swung to the “left” aka to neolibs. Now it’s been broken and swung so far to the right that I hope it responds in kind next time around and we get actual progressives in office.
I think there’s an increasing likelihood that the pendulum just breaks and falls to the ground rather than swinging any kind of way.
Run For Something is doing all they can to get real progressives in so thats a start
We need more people daily who are protesting and making connections. Then with connections made to get things done. Everyone can focus on different issues to overhaul all of this. Run For Something, Marc Elias are good examples on Bluesky on what we need more of
Honestly the only hope I have is that once the Trump clique breaks everything down and the are ousted the American people can get together and remake everything, maybe even better than it was. They did it once before.
Though I’m afraid that will only happen when the people reach a breaking point and that will lead to a lot of violence. Make sure to prepare for the worst and stay safe out there.
