you ever just try to mercy-kill someone else in your own nightmare?
You know, the usual apocalyptic scenario: you're being chased by a monster, rabid animals, robot, people who hate you for something you never chose, and/or a giant fuck-off abomination, in last night's delightful medley.

Except it's a time loop or something, so you keep shouting "Leave her. She dies in about 2 minutes!" as you run through one conference room into a hallway and a shop floor in a mall where the escalators up to the ground floor are gone.

No one follows you who wasn't already. Some princess or other "VIP" you need to be able to escape lags -- except it turns out later you needed nearly everyone, including the infuriatingly slow to react. The chick can't run anymore, so you half-carry, half-drag her.

You ask the shop staff for help, and she can't. You ask the shop staff for help, and she wavers. You are directed to a different elevater around the corner.

You get in and panic, then hit the obvious basement button, or the highest numbered button. You get in and move the ex-follower's head toward the panel, hoping it unlocks something.

You realise what's about to happen and try to put her out of the misery to follow. She's still alive, and so are you.
You panic. The doors open as the entrance bobs up and down, in the wake of a loud visceral rumble.

You enter the elevator alone and try to put yourself out of misery you "know" can't be avoided. You remember running out of the doors as they open, kicking off walls in a desperate attempt to slalom into hiding. The monster gets

You can't tell them or it dooms them. Where did the princess go? You can't escape. You were never going to be able to. The sirens start again, for the first time. Good luck.
