Esta imagen fue tomada desde el litoral sureste de Gran Canaria, una zona con un cielo cada vez más difĂcil de observar. A ambos lados de la foto se cuelan dos "hongos de luz", fruto de la contaminaciĂłn lumĂnica de nĂşcleos urbanos cercanos.
Aun asĂ, en el centro, resistiendo entre el resplandor, aparece el centro de nuestra galaxia.
No es el lugar ideal, pero es lo que hay cuando no puedes escapar a cielos más oscuros. Y a veces, incluso en medio del brillo artificial, algo podemos disfrutar.
La contaminaciĂłn lumĂnica no sĂłlo apaga las estrellas, desconectándonos de algo tan básico como mirar arriba y sentirnos parte de algo más grande; sino que supone tambiĂ©n un grave problema para el medioambiente y para nuestra propia salud.
La segunda imagen es un plano a 70mm del nucleo de nuestra galaxia.
🇬🇧First Milky Way of the year.
I shot this from the southeast coast of Gran Canaria — a place where the night sky is getting harder and harder to see. On both sides of the photo you can spot two “light domes” coming from nearby towns.
Still, right in the middle, pushing through the glow, is the heart of our galaxy.
It’s not the perfect spot, but it’s what you get when you can’t escape to darker skies. And sometimes, even with all the artificial light, the universe still shows up.
Light pollution doesn’t just block out the stars — it disconnects us from something as simple and essential as looking up and feeling part of something bigger.
It’s also a serious issue for the environment… and for our health.
Second shot: zooming in at 70mm to catch just the galactic core.
