And yes, even an ideal system of law isn't going to hold up indefinitely when all branches of government are captured by bad actors, but it still matters how easy we make it for them.

Sadly, there isn't a single governmental or social system I know of that can function well in the face of a sustained barrage of ill-intentioned people in influential positions.
