Jennifer 🍄do not under any circumstances give a librarian your true name, accept a gift from it (especially food or drink) and for god's sake never stray from the path in a library.

I can think of at least one of my favorite places that has a "no stage names, no dead names" policy, and I think another was even "legal names unless it's a deadname." I can't remember the library's policy, but I know that they don't force anyone to deadname themselves
@raphaelmorgan i didn't use my legal name before i came out, it was certainly interesting to see who had been accommodating that and suddenly couldn't when my preferred name became jen.
it's a simple kindness but it means a lot when people realize it's no different from saying "it's kate, not katherine"
