When people talked about bugs in advance of #GPN , this is not what I'd have expected:
(Found sticking under our hotel bed, reception and police have been informed)
@frickler01 😳😬
@skyr @frickler01 the cynic in me thinks "what if its a member of hotel staff, or even the Police who put it there?" - especially as it appears to be a type that doesn't appear to contain its own transmitter and would need to be recovered to extract the audio..
@vfrmedia @skyr @frickler01 it is pretty obvious it was a staff member, since this device has to be retrieved.
@frickler01 was this in a hotel in Karlsruhe? Is this an audio bug?
@frickler01 ah, Sorry, just read the alt text about the device. Crazy shit.
@frickler01 was there any manufacturer brand or model name on the device?

@frickler01
Cool, new disassembly content is going to drop, right?

...right?

@frickler01 did you open it up, by any chance?
@frickler01 wtaf, okay, my paranoia just went to 11.....
@frickler01 facilities were nice, but there were bed bugs. Two stars.
@frickler01 First lice, then this. I wonder what it will be next year, but GPN keeps pushing boundaries 🙃
@frickler01 That'll be the one you were supposed to find
...
@frickler01 was it hidden, or could it have been just dropped accidentially? Was it active?
@frickler01 and you didn't play 'Never gonna give you up' in an endless loop to fill it's memory?
@frickler01 this should be put back again.
Then put a camera on the opposing side of the room and monitor who is coming to recover this little thingy.
Or you put a rat trap where it used to be and wait for someone complaining about a broken finger.
@alexantemachina @frickler01 speaking of cameras, did you check the room for those as well after you found the mic?
@guenther @frickler01 I really wonder how to find these cameras reliably and make sure not to miss some.
