What's the current meta for power effiicent laptop SSDs? So far, I'm looking at (2TB, will run at Gen3 speeds for now):

- Lexar NM790 (DRAM-less but very compelling performance, seems to have a chip lottery going on but in a sidegrade way)
- SK Hynix P41 Platinum (seemingly a favorite of the Framework forums, but a little old so hard to compare to modern favourites)
- WD SN7100 (not much pricier and impressively efficient, but reviews suggest a broken ASPM implementation!??)
- Crucial T500 (newer and a little better, but 20% more expensive)

Would you like to recommend anything I might have missed?

@asie just get a random one, with your usage patterns you’re more likely to notice lower speeds than lower battery life anyways…

@asie i got a CT2000P3PSSD8 which is apparently Crucial P3 Plus (which, if I remember correctly, is one tier below T500?) and the battery life is virtually indistinguishable from the default SSD in my laptop (256GB WD OEM, no model on hand but cheap and DRAM-less).

i’ve tested a bunch of different SSDs for this and the only difference I’ve ever seen that was big enough to make note was Intel Optane 120GB VS everything else. Optane almost halfed my battery life.

@asie i cannot speak for your priorities but I’d check which one has the best ioperf per doller and pick that one
