do not under any circumstances give a librarian your true name, accept a gift from it (especially food or drink) and for god's sake never stray from the path in a library.
@JenYetAgain @ielenia hey im pretty sure this is to let trans people know their welcome and can use their chosen names on their library card, not like fair folk stuff
@Li @JenYetAgain @ielenia I think this is a reference to stories involving the fae
@cute_stuff @JenYetAgain @ielenia yes i know, but i dont like it. its clearly for trans people to be comfortable
@cute_stuff @ielenia @Li no, it's about librarians. vast, unknowable, terrifying in their beauty. if they ask for your attention don't give it to them. they'll keep it, and leave you with add or adhd.
@JenYetAgain @cute_stuff @ielenia yeah no, pretty sure its about being understanding of trans people ... and like ppl who use a different name
@Li @cute_stuff @ielenia can you explain what the sign means to me more? obviously i don't understand it.

@JenYetAgain @cute_stuff @ielenia its saying that the name on your library card can be your actual name, and doesnt have to be whats on your government issued ID, and acknoledging that your gov recognized name isnt nessecarily the same as your actual name,

its is common accomidation for trans people who are often unable to change their names because of discrimination,

but is also useful for everyone else who may have done that

@Li @cute_stuff @ielenia wow i never knew that. trans people change their names?

@JenYetAgain @cute_stuff @ielenia its very common yes; because many names have a gendered connotation, but some also just dont like their old names,

im like fairly sure thats what its about

@Li @cute_stuff @ielenia what's gender?
@JenYetAgain @Li @cute_stuff @ielenia you're getting blocked for other people not understanding your joke. I'm laughing but also I'm crying.
@JenYetAgain @cute_stuff @ielenia @Li if you capture a librarian, and then answer their riddle, you may be granted a wish. But beware the wording of your wish.
