My take on the 16 billion credential leak: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/Y5greyGyhnk
Holy Cow! 16 billion usernames and passwords leaked!? Should we panic?

@jerry I assume your take is: if this affects you, you are doing it wrong. (also I understand from others that this breach is big but not new creds).
@bbaugh not really. The breach isn’t new, we will see more of these fake breaches getting even larger, and it’s a reminder to improve our password security.
@jerry Yup. I struggle to get my family, who adamantly agree that I know what i am talking about, to actually use a password manager instead of writing down passwords that are easy to remember. I don’t think they comprehend that the threat has become: who you gave your password to was compromised so anything LIKE that is now bad. And still think it is: someone guessed my password.
@bbaugh I’ve been trying to get my family on board with using passkeys via 1Password. The user experience is really good - even easier than passwords, so seems to be working
@jerry I think work requiring specific apps kills the family solutions. “All your passwords go here*” doesn’t seem to work.
