@The_Icarian sharing hotline information like this is extremely dangerous without a source confirming it's not misinformation. Last time it was the supposed suicide hotline by Canada for US.. which happened to be TransLifeline's hotline, and done the rounds beginning from bluesky and all because of this kind of image text post sharing and then screenshot sharing without any question to the source.
@jase @The_Icarian Yes, my immediate thought was "Is there a source for this?" 😬
@jase it sounds like either a scam or a front for law enforcement, based on a quick search!! @The_Icarian

@CatsWhoCode @The_Icarian

@moonrabbit says that the source came across seemed legit but yea this definitely the problem even if it is legit without a source posts like this definitely leads you on a complete goose chase through a maze looking through the search engine for reputable source to back it up or not.

@CatsWhoCode @moonrabbit @indigo OH FOR goodness sake ...

That bloody canada "hotline" shit too..

Yea I'd urge report @The_Icarian to your admins for consistent sharing of hotlines without sources, if this is the way they're consistently sharing "information", extremely dangerous this is.

@jase @CatsWhoCode

that's what i found yes. (and sorry for the late reply: time zones)
but yeah next time i'll repost w source info for sure.

#fediblock psa to maybe think twice on sharing or boosting posts like this spreading hotline numbers without a a source of their authenticity.

Don't spread them, if it itself isn't misinformation, it's one stop from someone reposting with the number edited and that does the rounds instead all in the name of good intentions.

First one, source is: https://www.uscannenbergmedia.com/2025/06/18/usc-agents-of-change-establishes-hotline-to-help-move-immigration-hearings-online/.

But second is the very misinformation I referred to in my first reply above to the reported user.

Share hotline information responsibly.
