Scored a Lenovo C20-05 All-in-one (I think) for $30 off a couple who couldn't speak much English. They offered to turn it on to show me it works, but I said don't worry. Should've taken them up on it to change the language!
So the fun begins. Anyone know what I'm clicking?
@zakb The second pic is a language selector. iPhone translates it as per attached.
@dhry sweet thanks! I changed to English in that Format section which didn't change anything so I'm trying the "Display Language" settings now (I think), but it's doing a Windows Update first (I also think).
@zakb FYI the translate app has a ”camera” mode where you can choose the from and to languages and it will literally realtime detect foreign chars in the camera view and translate for you. Works pretty well.
@dhry I gave up in the end. Seems you need to go through a bit of a rigmarole to get a language service installed for Windows. I just wanted a sticky beak anyway before I wiped it. I just loaded a USB from bios and installed Debian. Trying out LXQt for something different. $30 was a steal in the end!
@alecthegeek I can't believe how long it took me to finally try Linux, but there is absolutely no turning back for me now. I'm ever so lightly trying to convince my family to hop over too.

@zakb I trained my kids (then young school children) to chant "Windows is bad, Linux is good"

Their mother was not impressed.

(*cough* I now use macOS on my principal laptop   ).
