@Strandjunker History is so wide and vast, you can teach only good things from history, be 100% truthful, still end up with people ignorant of history because you left out all the bad bits. Japan does this, why many japanese know nothing about the Nanjing massacre, and the comfort women. They turn many Nazis stomachs, but the current population is oblivious

@Strandjunker I didn't need to teach it to my kids.

I gave them the original statement, doomed to repeat it. We talked about it for a minute or two. Then I asked them so what would you say about someone who is trying to prevent the teaching of history, they thought about it, and my daughter came back with "they're trying to do something that you'd stop if you knew history."

I just had some right wing MAGAts today post over on Fakebook that "Juneteenth is not a real holiday", even though Biden declared it a federal holiday back in 2021. The racists are still out there and they wear red hats. We must never let up on them. Call them out!

@Strandjunker It's also a warning about the stuff around "a law doesn't matter if no one enforces it". It's scary seeing how well just ignoring the law works, how much of our government was running on decorum and when a bad actor decides to ignore decorum they can get away with a great many things. Like a now dead friend used to say, "Son, you usually get about as much justice as you can afford."
