I was just reading about #frugalComputing and found myself thinking of #Precursor

It feels to me like it would be a good fit for something like #deltaChat

@doboprobodyne @samuel @doktorzjivago @nichobi chatmail core usually takes between 14mb and 60mb of RAM (depending on account count), so the 16 MiB of the #Precursor may be a bit small.
So would require some tinkering to either make #chatmail core take less memory or some swapfile magic. (or a custom fork/implementation that removes features that are not supported like videos, webxdc and so on.)

I guess to make it speedy you would want to load an encryption module onto the FPGA next to the cpu.

Ah shoot, I missed that - thank you! Yes I think you have the right of it - a lightweight version for text-only use is probably the answer if someone wanted to go down this route (or swap file magic).

@doboprobodyne @samuel @doktorzjivago @nichobi would be definitely an interesting challenge with much potential for learning new things.

If anyone wants to do that and has questions about chatmail core, then they can ask in our forum https://support.delta.chat.

I believe it would be super cool to have DC running on the #Precursor
