Heading south on the Coast Starlight again! So many flowers blooming, these are all around the San Jose Diridon station.

excellent WFH location opening (although the windows could be cleaner)

Welcome to LA!
It’s so weird - not another car, other than about 50 police cars parked on the sidewalks with lights flashing, between Union Station and the hotel and zero people. 10 PM on a Friday night in DTLA.
11:30 PM on a Friday night in DTLA, not a person or car in sight.
there’s been some kind of construction going on outside the hotel I’m at since 430A. 🥱

Had a great time at the LA event, just sat at the edge of Grand Park and watched everything; great energy. Though just saw this as I got back and glad we are back.

from what I can see I think this is a “Spritz Del Conte” advertisement flying below all the news and police helicopters in DTLA right now.

Angel City giving these out at the game tonight - as far as I know the other LA sports teams have all been silent.

A few random from wandering around yesterday.

We were all set to leave exactly on time when a family of four with one ticketed person tried to get on and into a roomette. They “thought“ they bought tickets for everyone.

@lmc were they able to buy a few more tickets on the spot and get on?
@andrewfister It delayed the entire train 20 minutes but yes they worked it out.
@lmc Coast Starliiiiiight 🤩
@lmc lovely photo, safe travels!
@lmc Was my favorite place to study, chill, brown bag a lunch, just about anything really.
@4d3fect My sister and brother-in-law both went to UCLA then my brother-in-law worked there for the next 40 years. I visit every time I’m down in LA and bring coffee or lunch. My favorite is when the Jacaranda are blooming.
@lmc I do love the sculpture gardens, Regents' pathological building mania notwithstanding
@lmc
Oh my, this brings back memories. I attended the Anderson Graduate School of Management way back in 1977-79.... back when the graduate school was housed in one of the buildings bordering the sculpture garden. This was my home for 2 years. I recognized the setting immediately from your photos.

@BobHorowitz @lmc Bunche Hall or?

-it's been a while

@4d3fect @BobHorowitz yes – between that and Macgowan
@lmc @BobHorowitz I wasn't aware of brutalism while I was there, but Bunche Hall would qualify
@4d3fect @lmc I don't remember what the building was called back then. The building now houses the Luskin School of Public Affairs. 15 or 20 years ago the Graduate School of Management moved to a newer building a little further west.
@lmc I am a hard Deborah Butterfield fangrrrl.
@lmc This is in Mountain View near one of the main Google campuses that used to be Silicon Graphics. Sculpture donated by SGI.
