Buttercups have a strong resonance with me. They have been a constant presence in my summers. They were held under my chin to see the yellow glow that heralded my love of butter. They were paired with daisies in a now forgotten song. I know what they taste like; as a child I put everything in my mouth.

This scene near us is a field of joy. Arresting and magnificent they make me smile; actually they made me glow internally and it burst out as a short, sunny laugh

@ChaHarper my mother was nicknamed Buttercup by her Swedish immigrant grandmother in northern Minnesota. We took a family trip to that grandmother's town in Sweden years later. The hostel had names for their cabins. Mom was assigned to the cabin "smörblomma" -- Buttercup.
