The Trump administration’s move sets back a decades-long effort to end the use of the material, which is widely banned in other countries.

@jeffjarvis Back to the past, fast backward.

@jeffjarvis But seriously, you thought the Greenfell Tower was a mistake?

All these pesky regulations to protect the poor cost the super rich unnecessarily profits.

It's a win-win. Cheaper materials can be used. So more profits initially when exploiting the poor.

And even better for the US healthcare criminal syndicate. Cancer is a nice illness that keeps giving to everyone, and at the end leaves an insolvent family.

What's not to like?

The US system is dropping any pretence that it cares about making the lives of the masses better, or even staying at the same level of quality of life.

@jeffjarvis Yes, Jeff. They really, really do. A physically ill and dying society is so much easier to control. I actually thought food might be in short supply by summer, but it seems that it will be winter before real food shortages arrive.

But with no health inspections, we’ve already gone mostly vegan. Halal or kosher meat is still a treat because I trust those inspections. No dairy, though.

@jeffjarvis What next, Lay's Lead Paint Flavored Chips? They're plumbumicious!
@jeffjarvis His family's new business adventure: opening a mega-mesothelioma claims center. It I'll be huge! It will have the best lawyers!

Interesting fact: When did the first doctor notice asbestos caused lung problems?

Two-thousand-fucking-years-ago. A Roman doctor noticed the slaves in the asbestos mines all died young of lung disease.

*sigh*

@jeffjarvis @Uair

Back in my grad school days, we had a joke about not starting one’s literature review with a Pliny the Elder citation…because we knew someone who did just that.

But in the case of asbestos and lung cancer, it just might be appropriate

@Uair @jeffjarvis and life expectancy of slaves sent to the mines was legendarily short anyway...

@jeffjarvis

Yes. They are actively trying to cull as many of us as they can, as quickly as they can.
