It looked like shit. Army totally phoned it in. No dress uniforms, marching was no better than first month ROTC cadets, no pomp. As a former member of the UT NROTC Drill Team I have personally done better when marching for fun.

That's not an accident. This was a message from the Army. They obeyed orders, technically, but they did the absolute minimum and denied Trump a North Korea or PRC style spectacle.

Nice.

This is pretty important. It's not just about the schadenfruede of Trump getting a discount dictator parade because the Army doesn't care.

It sends the signal that the Army as a whole doesn't care or worry about his feelings--or his retaliation. He may have ICE goons, but he doesn't have the military. And that's HUGE.

Like I have to say, this makes me feel a lot better after having seen it.

I'm not really worried about the military siding with Trump anymore.

I think it's the police we have to worry about. Not just ICE, but the LAPD or the LASD, which I saw use horses and flashbangs against peaceful protestors.

@jezebelkat I bet Sec Def feels like he did great

@SRDas

SecDef was a shitty talking head. His opinion is worthless.

@jezebelkat true tho I can't fathom he's still in that role. Mainly I wonder how much of this parade was to reflect his (in)competence
