This sheriff should loose his job immediately. This is a blatant violation of the rule of law.

“We Will Kill You”: Florida Sheriff Threatens Protesters Ahead of Nationwide Anti-Trump Demos

Protests defending immigrant communities against ICE raids have been taking place in cities across the U.S., including New York, Seattle, Chicago, Austin, Las Vegas, Madison and Washington. This is a protest organizer in San Antonio. J.C. Casteneta: “They’re bringing up the troops. They’re bringing up ICE. People are scared. But they’re the ones that should be scared, because us, as a community, we can make a difference.” Texas Governor Greg Abbott said he has deployed more than 5,000 National Guard troops in his state. Meanwhile, the sheriff in Florida’s Brevard County warned protesters his officers would “kill” them, ahead of expected nationwide protests this weekend. Sheriff Wayne Ivey: “If you throw a brick, a firebomb or point a gun at one of our deputies, we will be notifying your family where to collect your remains at, because we will kill you graveyard dead.” More than 1,800 rallies are planned across the U.S. Saturday under the banner of “No Kings Day,” coinciding with a $45 million taxpayer-funded military parade and 79th birthday bash for Trump.

@sonjdol Clickbait headline. The full quote says they'll respond to use of deadly force with use of deadly force, which is quite reasonable.
@woe2you No, it's not
@sonjdol If you throw a brick or a firebomb at someone you are trying to kill or maim them.
@woe2you @sonjdol Should cops treat someone spitting on them as grounds to send them to the hospital?
@WhiteCatTamer @sonjdol Spitting is a very different thing to bricks, firebombs and firearms. If that fella's statement dissuades one idiot from directing lethal force at the police and ruining/ending their life as a consequence it's done its job.
@woe2you @sonjdol Yes, it is, and it’s included in his warning because he wants to project force. It does not dissuade people from defending themselves from police violence; it encourages officers who might have otherwise chosen to deescalate, as they ought.
@WhiteCatTamer @sonjdol Spitting is not included anywhere in his statement: "If you throw a brick, a firebomb or point a gun at one of our deputies, we will be notifying your family where to collect your remains at, because we will kill you graveyard dead."
@woe2you @sonjdol It is in the longer statement. Go look for it and watch it in full. And again: should spitting on a cop land you in the hospital? In that context, does this seem more warning or more sabre rattling?

@WhiteCatTamer @sonjdol Could you provide a link to that? Because all I've found is people quoting him, and per those quotes he emphatically did not threaten to shoot people for spitting on them.

A separate clause I've seen quoted said "If you spit on us, you’re going to the hospital and then jail". I can't argue with that either. I'm tired of people claiming they don't need to wear masks in the middle of a pandemic. Spitting on someone is biological warfare.

@woe2you @sonjdol This is a bullshit dodge because he is not wearing a mask. The spitting is not about “biological warfare” for him: it is about disrespect, for which he wants his officers to respond with violence.
@WhiteCatTamer @sonjdol He is not in an adversarial situation when giving that statement. Keep moving those goalposts.

@woe2you I'm guessing that you won't understand -- at least, not right now -- why I'm muting you for 30 days. But I encourage you to think about it.

Hopefully, we all want a better world, for everyone. Right now, you're working AGAINST that goal, not for it. You might be sincere, but to me it looks like you're just stirring shit for the sake of it, maybe for your ego or something. That's between you and you to sort out.

I believe you can be a better person, and maybe just need a time-out.

@woe2you @sonjdol To the audience: note how this user tries to
1) contain the discussion to the one slice of it he wants to talk about and
2) avoid talking about what the larger context indicates and
3) demands others perform work and
4) suggest an incongruous conclusion that allows them to continue to defend overt threats of violence
This person is not worth your time.
