Every soldier, airman, sailor, and Marine knows basic 22-5. They do formations EVERY DAY. They do a ceremony once a month or more, depending on who is leaving, taking command or graduating.

The original poster is correct. The slouch and off cadence walking was a choice.

It’s a good sign too.

Edit: FM 22-5 is the army field manual for close order drill/ceremonies. 😉

As an army veteran, I think for lack of a better word the lack of "professionalism" or "discipline" in the marching and on display is definitely a sign. Those service members don’t want to be doing this and they’re very frustrated. That’s the sense I get.
