Lol, turns out I have 413 followers on bluesky. Even though my ONLY post there is the one directing everybody to come here, to the fediverse. 😯😂 'Cause no, I don't bridge.

I don't get the enthusiasm of so many of my colleagues, journalists, science people for bsky. It's as if there's an inbred mistrust of a truly distributed public system. And these are my friends, who call for change, transformation - but then don't ...? I miss them.

@W_Lucht Mastodon requires more user sophistication and tolerance for problems.

Replies to posts on Mastodon show up differently, or not at all, for different users. Instances may block other instances due to individual user malfeasance or just due to the whims of admins. Migrating an account to a new instance is frustrating, supported more in theory than in practice. And Bluesky's features for discovering other users and following topics are way ahead of Mastodon's.
