Only one more A bug to fix. It's not hard to fix. Not sure why I'm avoiding it. This bug is my White Whale.
@grumpygamer that's not a normal bug to have
you should normalize it
@grumpygamer Tangent, but - what bug tracker is that? 🧐
@arafel @grumpygamer Looks like an Excel spreadsheet to me!
@rold2007 @grumpygamer Oh - could be I guess, just cropped against a nice gradient background. Sometimes I might overthink things. 🙂 Thanks!
@arafel Notion.

@grumpygamer Thanks. I think I found Notion a bit too “blank canvas” when I looked before, but maybe it’s worth another try.

Good luck with your whale.

@arafel I can't really comment on what it's like to set up, but at work, our producer built a really good system for us, and I am absolutely loving it.
@grumpygamer there's a long history of this bug being a feature in the FPS genre. That's precedence for closing it working as designed.
I worked on an FPS game at monolith some years back and "fixed this", and I've regretted it ever since. Games are meant to be imperfect little goblins.
I don't need to tell you that but adding ammo to not fixing it if you are on the fence 😀
@grumpygamer old-school “vibe coders”, before AI, would just divide the speed by the square root of 2 and see if this helps, without looking at the origin of the bug.
@grumpygamer ez just detect when the player is pressing an even number of movement buttons, then slow down the game tick speed by sqrt(2).
@grumpygamer as aomeone who loves zooming through levels: thats not a bug, its a feature 🏃‍♀️

@grumpygamer

Just think, though: Once you fix it, you can proclaim vectory!

@grumpygamer something something Pythagoras 🤔
@grumpygamer I’d definitely be sitting equally between fixing it and re-branding the game “Diagonal Runner”.
@tallstorygames @grumpygamer Lean into it and make it unnecessarily fast when moving diagonally.
@grumpygamer Clearly a Point&Click voodoo curse  :v
