And everything up and running. Logs looking good. So, releasing an untested hotfix with major configuration changes was not on my bucket list for a friday evening. But as I did this voluntarily it was fun. If it had failed there had to be a full manual rollback done asap to avoid a bigger unanounced downtime. Actual downtime was 1m30s - thats a new record for this system. Time to grab a beer 🍻
Next episode: Moving a multiple TB sized Oracle db to PostgreSQL. But first some stress tests with the new db . I think I'll mirror all production traffic with nginx to the test system that runs on the test database that also contains all productive data. I advised to migrate in parts to the new db and take the time to restructure some tables - but my company decided to let some externals migrate the whole thing as is and there I have it. 🔥
