@courtney @pabloniusmonk man that is the most opaque bunch of nonsense.

Like, it really is a good idea to not leave a lithium ion battery fully charged or fully discharged. Apple is implementing this feature in a really simple way: you turn it on, it caps your charge at 80% instead of 100%. Simple, transparent, does the job of extending the life of the battery.

@dave @courtney That's on older iPhone models, is it?

Yeah, Google is devastatingly bad at this customer relations stuff. Hard to build any brand loyalty like this.

@pabloniusmonk @courtney No, mine is a current version, latest iOS.
@dave @courtney Apple is capping your charging your newish iPhone to 80%?!

@pabloniusmonk @courtney that's a feature I can (and did) turn on. It's not on by default.

All Li-Ion batteries should be treated that way--keep them between 20% and 80% charge whenever possible. It *drastically* increases the life of the battery.

@dave @pabloniusmonk Hmmm .. I had assumed the "adaptive charging" setting that already was enabled was doing this -- but it wasn't. I just went in now and was able to change it to 80% limit.
